  • ITA Recognizes 40 CAC Tennis Scholar Athletes & Eight Programs

    The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has announced the recipients for the 2019 ITA All-Academic Teams and Scholar-Athletes. A total of 40 student-athletes earned All-Academic status, while eight programs earned team recognition. Christopher Newport led the league with 14 honorees, while Penn State Harrisburg collected eight.
  • Salisbury's Angradi & Halfpap Earn CAC Men's Tennis Major Awards; CNU's Macy Also Honored

    Salisbury junior Alec Angradi rearned Player of the Year honors to headline the 2019 All-CAC Men's Tennis team. Salisbury's Randy Halfpap was chosen as Coach of the Year for the fourth time, while Christopher Newport freshman Ryan Macy picked up the other major award as Rookie of the Year.

  • Mary Washington Tops Christopher Newport for 24th CAC Men's Tennis Championship

    The 15th ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team captured the 2019 Capital Athletic Conference Championship with a 5-0 victory over Christopher Newport University on Saturday at the Battleground. The championship is the 24th in program history, including the 18th in 19 years.

    Mary Washington held serve and Christopher Newport went on the road to earn the victory as both the Eagles and Captains will faceoff on Friday (May 3) for the 2019 CAC Men's Tennis Tournament Championship.
  • Salisbury & Southern Virginia Claim First Round CAC Men's Tennis Tournament Wins

    Salisbury and Southern Virginia claimed shutout victories on Saturday (April 27) to open their run through the 2019 CAC Men's Tennis Tournament. No. 2 Salisbury earned a 9-0 victory over No. 7 Penn State Harrisburg and No. 4 Southern Virginia downed No. 5 St. Mary's by a 5-0 final.
  • UMW, CNU Earn Victories to Open CAC Men's Tennis Tournament Action

    Top-seed Mary Washington and No. 3 Christopher Newport opened the 2019 CAC Men's Tennis Tournament with victories on Friday, April 26th. The Eagles and Captains will advance to the semifinal rounds scheduled for Tuesday, April 30th. 
  • Mary Washington Claims No. 1 Seed in CAC Tournament for 11th Straight Season; CAC Men's Tennis Tournament Matchups Set

    Mary Washington completed a perfect CAC men's tennis regular season for the 11th straight season, earning the No. 1 seed in the upcoming CAC Tournament. The eight-team CAC Tournament field is now set following the final conference regular season matches on Saturday.

  • Mary Washington's Matt Miles Earns CAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week Accolades

    Mary Washington senior Matt Miles provided the biggest win of his career on Sunday, as he defeated last year's NCAA Singles runne rup, Nikolai Parodi of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, 7-6, 7-6, as the 19th ranked Eagles fell to sixth ranked CMS, 7-2. He also picked up a doubles win against Whittier on Sunday, winning 8-7 with Moses Hutchison in a 9-0 win over Whittier.
  • Mary Washington's Michael Fleming Named CAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week
    February 26, 2019
    Mary Washington junior Michael Fleming won a pair of singles matches and three doubles matches as 20th ranked Mary Washington took on three nationally ranked opponents in #14 Kenyon, #36 Stevens, and #23 Sewanee. In singles, he claimed a 6-4, 7-5 win at two over Stevens, and took a three set win over Sewanee, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3. In doubles play, he and Patrick Hughes won at three over Stevens, 8-0, and then downed Kenyon and Sewanee at two by 8-2 scores.
  • Mary Washington Controls Top Spot in CAC Men's Tennis Preseason Poll

    Mary Washington outdistanced Christopher Newport for the top spot in the 2019 CAC Men's Tennis Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Eagles received seven first-place votes and 49 points, while the captains the Captains received 43 points and one first-place vote atop the preseason rankings. UMW defeated CNU by a 5-1 decision in last year's conference championship match as the Eagles captured their 22nd league title. 
  • CAC Players of the Week - Oct. 9

    Cross country enters its home stretch heading towards the CAC Championships on Oct. 27, while split-season sports golf and tennis are nearing the conclusion of their fall campaigns as we approach mid-October. This week's weekly awards were given to Robert Romano of Frostburg State men's cross country, Logan Funk of Christopher Newport women's cross country, Tyler Newton of York men's golf, Jordan Koller of York women's golf, Paul Monson of Southern Virginia men's tennis, and Allison Paul of Frostburg State women's tennis. 
  • CAC Players of the Week - Oct. 2

    Last week's action featured a bevy of strong cross country performances as well as several CAC men's tennis squads competing at the ITA Regional Championships. Conference honors were awarded to Conner Masteran of Salisbury men's cross country, Ashley Mazer of Salisbury women's cross country, and Matt Miles of Mary Washington men's tennis.

    All fall and split season sports are now underway, with this week's reports featuring the first tennis and women's golf athletes of the week of the fall 2018 season. Weekly honors were awarded to Ray Smith of York men's cross country, Emily Knerr of Mary Washington women's cross country, Casey Leebrick of York men's golf, Erica Whitehouse of Christopher Newport women's golf, Mason Kolls of Christopher Newport men's tennis, and Johanna Ranta-aho of Christopher Newport women's tennis. 
  • Shedd Returns to Coach St. Mary's Tennis

    St. Mary's College of Maryland Senior Woman Administrator Erin McDonnell announced Thursday the return of Gregory Shedd as the head coach of the St. Mary's men's and women's tennis programs. Shedd began his duties yesterday (Aug. 15) by attending the Department of Athletics & Recreation annual Welcome Back staff meeting.
  • Frostburg State Names Splinter Interim Tennis Coach

    Director of Athletics Troy A. Dell announced today that Jeff Splinter will serve as Frostburg State's interim men's and women's tennis coach for the 2018-19 athletic season.
