The Frostburg State men’s track & field team is looking to improve upon its seventh-place finish last winter. The Bobcats’ 45-man roster is led by an 11-man senior class. Senior Shamar Nelson ranks fourth in the Mideast region in long jump (6.98 meters) and seventh in the 60-meter dash (7.03). Senior Robert Romano leads the Bobcat distance runners and ranks third in the region with a 4:16.29 mile time. Junior John Kerns re-set his own FSU record in the weight throw and ranks first in the region with a heave of 17.39 meters. Sophomore Clayton Washington boasts the Bobcats’ top times in the 200 (23.15) and 400 (53.19). Frostburg State’s distance medley relay (10:33.65) ranks eighth in the region, while the 4x400-meter relay is 10th (3:29.27). 


The Frostburg State women’s track and field squad finished sixth at the CAC Indoor Championships last February. The Bobcats return two legs of their CAC-winning 4x400-meter relay with sophomore Maddison Watson and junior Keileen Estrada. Watson has posted the Bobcats’ top times in the 200-meter dash (27.85) and 400-meter dash (1:05.25) on the year. Estrada leads the roster with a 10.37 time in the 60-meter hurdles. Senior Holly Van Wie ranks 10th in the region in the weight throw with a heave of 13.62 meters. Juniors Kenzi Smith and Gabbriell Reason round out the Bobcat sprinters, and juniors  Sidonie Brown and Sarah McCurry handle the distance events.
