York Secures A Home Game, And Marymount Clinches Final Playoff Berth, On Final Night Of CAC Volleyball Action

York won the battle for the final home playoff spot, and Marymount won the battle for the final playoff berth, Wednesday on the final night of CAC volleyball play this season.

York (17-11, 5-3 CAC) entered Wednesday's action tied for fourth place with St. Mary's.  The Spartans just needed to defeat Hood (5-19, 0-8 CAC) to clinch the fourth playoff position and a home match in the opening round of the playoffs.  YCP took care of Hood by a 3-0 margin to clinch the position.

St. Mary's (16-11, 4-4 CAC), which will be the fifth seed, needed to beat regular-season champion Salisbury (24-4, 8-0 CAC) and hope Hood would beat York to move up into fourth place.  Neither of those things happened for the Seahawks, who dropped a 3-2 decision to the Sea Gulls.

The final playoff position in the six-team tournament came down to a head-to-head match between Marymount (18-11, 3-5 CAC) and Stevenson (12-19, 2-6 CAC), and the Saints held serve on home court for a 3-0 victory.

St. Mary's will travel to York while Marymount will visit Gallaudet (20-11, 6-2 CAC) Tuesday (11/3) in the first round of the CAC playoffs.  The semifinals are scheduled for Nov. 5, when the winner of the SMC vs. YCP match plays at Salisbury and the winner of the Marymount vs. Gallaudet showdown travels to second-seeded Mary Washington (18-10, 7-1 CAC).
