Christopher Newport freshman Johanna Ranta-aho was chosen as the CAC Player of the Week for the second time this year after posting a 5-1 overall record including multiple wins against Division I opponents, helping the Captains secure their first win over a Division I team in 25 years. She swept her three singles bouts and won at No. 1 doubles twice, falling only to George Mason at the top doubles spot. Ranta-aho opened the week with a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles against Salisbury, and teamed with Kate Huck for an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles over regionally-ranked Annika Kezman and Julia Kwedi. She followed that up with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles and a 7-6(7) win at No. 1 doubles against Monmouth, helping CNU to a 6-1 team victory. She closed out the week with another singles win over a Division I foe, downing George Mason's No. 1 by a score of 6-2, 6-3, to collect her 20th win of the year. She was won 13 straight matches entering the CAC semifinal matchup vs. Salisbury.
