    Mary Washington Senior Taylor Diffley Grabs CAC Women's Tennis Weekly Honors Mary Washington senior Taylor Diffley was picked as the CAC Player of the Week for the second time in 2016-17 after turning in a perfect week for the Eagles in wins over nationally-ranked Skidmore and Whitman as well as Bates at the Blue Grey Invitational.

    Christopher Newport Freshman Johanna Ranta-aho Named CAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week Christopher Newport freshman Johanna Ranta-aho secured CAC Player of the Week honors after posting a 3-1 record in both singles and doubles last week for the Captains. Ranta-aho's only losses of the week came against fifth-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. She helped CNU pick up wins over Chapman, Caltech, and No. 24 Redlands with her victories at No. 2 singles and doubles. She paired with Kate Huck in doubles, earning an 8-0 win at Chapman, an 8-3 win at Caltech, and an 8-2 win at Redlands. In singles, Ranta-aho suffered her only loss to 14th-ranked Catherine Allen (CMS), while picking up wins against Nicole Fouts (6-0, 6-1) from Chapman, Julia Reisler (6-1, 6-0) from Caltech, and Emily Murnin (2-6, 6-4, 6-2) from Redlands.

    St. Mary's Junior Savannah Bergen Honored as CAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week St. Mary's junior Savannah Bergen was honored as the CAC Player of the Week after posting a 4-0 week in a 1-1 week for St. Mary's. Bergen teamed up with Claire Bodine for a pair of No. 3 doubles victories against Harford Community College, 9-7, and No. 40 Washington College, 8-3. Against HCC, Bergen/Bodine were down 3-6 before rallying back for the 9-7 win. Bergen then notched wins at No. 6 singles, posting a straight set win vs. Harford's Rachel Hall and winning 8-1 over Washington's Mariah Thomas.

    Mary Washington Junior Kait Brogan Earns CAC Women's Tennis Weekly Honors for Second Time This Year Mary Washington junior Kait Brogan was named the CAC Player of the Week for the second time in 2016-17 after leading the 15th-ranked Eagles to a 4-0 start to the spring season. Brogan boasts a 3-0 mark at No. 1 singles and a 4-0 record at No. 1 doubles this spring. She has captured each of her three singles wins in straight sets, and she and doubles partner Taylor Diffley have yet to lose more than two games in a doubles matchup this spring. The Eagles have topped Meredith, Methodist, Franklin & Marshall, and Salisbury.

    Mary Washington Junior Kait Brogan Tabbed as CAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week Mary Washington junior Kait Brogan was tabbed as the CAC Player of the Week after winning the main singles draw at the Mount St. Mary's Invitational last weekend. Brogan defeated Danielle Thompson of Morgan State, 6-4, 6-7 (1), 10-5, in the finals after downing teammate Danielle Mirabella, 4-6, 6-3, 10-5 in the semifinals.

    Penn State Harrisburg Freshman Sydney Nye Claims CAC Women's Tennis Weekly Honors Penn State Harrisburg freshman Sydney Nye was honored as the CAC Player of the Week after capturing wins at both No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles in a non-conference matchup against Goucher. Nye downed her singles opponent in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1, and teamed with fellow freshman Alicia Hitz for an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles.

    Mary Washington Senior Taylor Diffley Selected as CAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week Mary Washington senior Taylor Diffley was selected as the CAC Player of the Week after teaming with junior Caroline Mosberg to advance to the finals of the ITA Southeast Regional this weekend, winning four matches before falling in the final in three sets to Johns Hopkins, 6-7, 6-4, 10-5.

    Mary Washington Chosen as Unanimous Favorite in CAC Women's Tennis Preseason Poll With 13-straight CAC titles in hand, Mary Washington was once again picked as the preseason favorite in the 2017 CAC Women's Tennis Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Eagles were a unanimous choice atop the rankings, receiving seven first-place votes and 49 points.
