York sophomore Justine Wantz earned CAC Athlete of the Week honors after earning a pair of individual wins and breaking a school record in the Spartans' sweep of Messiah and Franklin & Marshall on Saturday. Wantz won the 100 backstroke with a time of 59.83, which established a new school record during the first competition of the year. She also won the 50 backstroke with a time of 28.21. Wantz was also a part of the 200 medley relay squad that finished second in the race. Her 50 and 100 backstroke times rank atop the CAC and 23rd and 24th nationally, respectively.

Frostburg State, Mary Washington, Salisbury, and York have opened their women's swimming seasons, while St. Mary's and Marymount will face off on Saturday in the season-opener for both squads ... Frostburg State senior Macey Nitchie has posted a perfect 5-0 mark in individual events through two meets. She opened the season with wins in the 50 and 100 freestyles against Gallaudet, while this past weekend in a quad meet at Stevenson, she won the 50, 100 and 200 freestyles ... Senior Megan Murphy picked up four wins as Mary Washington defeated Randolph-Macon in its home opener on Friday. She swam the butterfly leg of the winning 200 medley relay that finished with a time of 1:50.33, and followed with wins in the 50 free at 25.23, as well as the 100 free at 54.87. She capped the night as the anchor leg of the winning 200 free relay, which finished at 1:43.82. In the season opener at Washington & Lee, she was the Eagles' two-time winner, finishing first in the 100 yard butterfly at 58.77 and the 200 yard butterfly at 2:11.12 ... Salisbury sophomore Angela Barzanti recorded a first-place finish in the women's 400-meter freestyle against Catholic on Saturday with a time of 4:57.76 and was the anchor of the Salisbury team captured a second-place finish in the women's 400-meter freestyle relay with a time of 4:39.07.
