  • CNU's Whitehouse Earns Top-Ten Finish at 2019 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship

    Making the first ever appearance by a CAC and CNU women's golfer in the NCAA Division III National Championships, sophomore Erica Whitehouse wrapped up a top-ten finish at the national tournament on Friday afternoon with a 17-over 305. The Captains' second-year star tied for 9th in the 131-player field, just nine back of the individual champion Cordelia Chan from Williams College.

    Making history as the first Capital Athletic Conference and Christopher Newport University women's golfer ever to be selected to the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships, CNU sophomore Erica Whitehouse was named one of six individual qualifiers for this year's championship event in a press release from the NCAA on Monday evening.

    York (Pa.) and Christopher Newport both placed three golfers each on the 2019 All-CAC Women's Golf First Team and and split the major awards from the second-ever conference women's golf championship held April 18-20 at the Golden Horseshoe Resort in Williamsburg, Va.

    York (Pa.) outdueled Christopher Newport on the final day to win the 2019 CAC Women's Golf Championship which concluded on Saturday, April 20 at the Golden Horseshoe Resort's Green Course, a par 72 layout in Williamsburg, Va.
  • CNU, York Tied Heading Into 2019 CAC Women's Golf Championship Final Round

    Christopher Newport bounced back in round two to fire 318 (+30) to pull even with York for the team lead heading into the final round on Saturday. CNU's Erica Whitehouse, the 10th ranked player in the country, fired an even-par round of 72 - the best round of the day by seven strokes.

    The fall golf season is winding down with only a few tournaments left on the slate, while the swimming campaign is just getting started with four of the five CAC teams opening up their seasons this past weekend. This week's CAC weekly awards were given to Carson Castelli of Christopher Newport men's golf, Erica Whitehouse of Christopher Newport women's golf, Jeffrey Leckrone of Mary Washington men's swimming, and Justine Wantz of York women's swimming.

This week's weekly awards were given to Robert Romano of Frostburg State men's cross country, Logan Funk of Christopher Newport women's cross country, Tyler Newton of York men's golf, Jordan Koller of York women's golf, Paul Monson of Southern Virginia men's tennis, and Allison Paul of Frostburg State women's tennis.
