FREDERICKBURG, Va. -- Mary Washington junior Jeffrey Leckrone was named the CAC Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week for Oct. 24, 2017.

Mary Washington junior Jeffrey Leckrone was named the CAC Athlete of the Week after picking up five wins in the Eagles' opening two meets. In a win over Randolph-Macon last Friday, Leckrone swam the breaststroke leg of the winning 200 medley relay, won the 100 freestyle at 48.47, and capped his evening with a victory in the 200 IM (2:00.69). Against Washington & Lee, he won the 100 breaststroke at 58.13 and the 200 breaststroke at 2:11.12. All of his times rank tops in the CAC, while is 100 breaststroke (4th NCAA) and 200 breaststroke (10th NCAA) rank among the best in Division III this season.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Frostburg State, Mary Washington, Salisbury, and York have opened their men's swimming seasons, while St. Mary's and Marymount will face off on Saturday in the season-opener for both squads ... Frostburg State is 4-0 to begin the year. Senior Christian March posted two wins against Gallaudet and was 3-0 in a quad-meet with Goucher, Hood and Stevenson. In two meets, he has two wins in the 100 breaststroke and has posted victories in the 100 IM, 50 and 100 freestyles ... Salisbury junior Peter Moyer earned individual victories on Saturday against Catholic in the 200-meter freestyle (2:00.46) and 400-meter freestyle (4:22.95). He was also part of the relay team that finished first in the 400-meter freestyle relay with a time of 3:42.07 ... York freshman Kaelan Dowdall made his collegiate debut a memorable one as he earned a win and two third-place finishes in the Spartans' tri-meet with Messiah and Franklin & Marshall on Saturday. Dowdall won the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 10:29.40. He then earned a third in the 100 butterfly with a time of 53.73 while he also finished third in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:00.35. Dowdall was also a part of the 200 free relay that finished third with a time of 1:29.73.
